Needlepoint - cleaning a needlepoint doorstop

Expert: Henry Babcock - 10/1/2008

Question
I have made two needlepoint doorstops where the finished canvas covers a brick.  Both have an ivory background and look rather dirty due to normal dust and grime.  I can't covers off as they are stitched on.  Both are made with quality wool yarns.  How can I clean them?

Answer
Denise,

While the most thorough cleaning would be achieved by removing the needlepoint, there are still a few things to try.  I recommend that you check out some cleaning tips available on the American Needlepoint Guild's website:

Hope this helps,
