Needlepoint/needlepoint cleaning

Question
I have ordered the book you recommend for the cleaning of needlepoint but my
situation is unusual I think.  I found a framed needlepoint sampler in the attic of
my cousins house long after he died.  The piece dates from 1830 and is not in
pristine condition.  It was done by an ancestor of mine.  THe piece is completely
discolored by I think water which leaked through and dripped on the material.  Is
the book you recommended going to give me a solution or do you think it might
be hopeless?

Answer
Vanessa,

The Needlework Doctor is not going to really help in your situation.  However, it may not be hopeless; a needlepoint piece of that age is going to need professional help.

I recommend you contact the American Needlepoint Guild for assistance in locating a textile restoration expert:

Hope this helps,
