For a piece that size, I can only recommend that a professional service perform the work. When you wash a needlepoint piece, of any size, it needs to be reblocked, and reblocking something that size is outside the abilities of the average do-it-yourselfer.
Try searching on the Internet for "needlepoint rug cleaning". You should find several services that can do a good job for a fair price.
