AboutHenry Babcock Expertise I learned needlepoint from my grandmother over 30 years ago. I can answer most questions on the subject. I know about producing needlepoint as well as cleaning, repairing and restoring.
I have a question about getting an appraisal on a peice that my Great Grandmother did. She started it in 1890 and finished it in 1903, it is taken from the Bible from Exdous17:8 The Amalekites defeated. It is in the original frame and is under glass. The size of the picture is 4ft by 5ft, some of the colors of the picture could not be obtained in this Country and had her Aunt bring them back form Europe. The original picture was no t big but she counted the stitches and reproduced onto the Canvas the picture came from a Catholic Church in Memphis tn and she is the only one who ever started i that finished it. It means a lot to me of course and would like to know if it has any value.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. It is spectaular.

Answer Genevieve,
You will need to contact an antique appraiser with knowledge of needlepoints. I recommend that you contact the American Needlepoint Guild (www.needlepoint.org) for a referral to someone in your area that could do the appraisal for you.
