Needlepoint/Needlepoint stitches

Question
Hi,  I recently picked up a needlepoint kit I purchased about 15 years ago.  (That was before we started our business and got too busy to do such things.)  Now that we have sold our business, I'm eager to get back into stitching, which I do love.  The kit I have only describes the Continental stitch.  However, in the past I have enjoyed doing the Basketweave stitch for the backgrounds of other projects.  So, my question is, if the yarn allotted in the kit is supposed to be for the Continental Stitch, will there be a sufficient amount for the Basketweave stitch?  If it requires more, I might just go out and get another yarn of a similar color, in greater quantity, to complete the job.

Glad I found your site, and I'm looking forward to hearing back from you.

Thanks, Linda

Answer
HI Linda
A lot depends on the maker of the kit.  Some I have used have more than enough yarn for the design stitch called for and others are short on yarn.

I know this is not much help.

Here is a site that may be of help.

I looked for a chart to compare the yarn use with other stitches, but did not find any.
