AboutHenry Babcock Expertise I learned needlepoint from my grandmother over 30 years ago. I can answer most questions on the subject. I know about producing needlepoint as well as cleaning, repairing and restoring.
Question QUESTION: I am finishing 2 canvases that were painted to fit a chair. Before I have the chair upholstered with the finished canvases, they need to be cleaned (not flattened). Can you tell me where in NYC this can be done reasonably? Thank you.
ANSWER: Shanna,
I recommend you contact:
Erica Wilson, Inc.
717 Madison Avenue
New York, NY 10021
(212) 832-7290
They should be able to recommend someone in NYC who can do the work for you.
Hope this helps,
Henry Babcock

QUESTION: Thank you. I have my canvases painted at Rita's and only bought one canvas at Erica Wilson (which I didn't like) but I think they would be a good source for information since Rita has not been able to help me. Have you had experience with Rita or anyone else in the city? Thanks again.
Shanna
Answer Shanna,
I moved from NYC 20 years ago, and never had much contact with any needlepoint people while I lived there. If any, it was mostly to buy threads and blank canvas.
