Needlepoint - enlarging pattern

Expert: Henry Babcock - 8/18/2008

Question
I'm relatively new to needlepoint.  I found a pattern in a book for a lampshade.  However, my lamp is larger than the pattern, and I'm not sure how to enlarge it.  The pattern is an African design, and I think if I can figure out how to make a larger canvas I can redraw the design to fit.

Answer
Beverly,

You might have some luck with taking the book to a copy shop and copying the pattern while enlarging it.  You might have to enlarge separate parts of the pattern and then reassemble the parts into the larger pattern.

Hope this helps,
