AboutHenry Babcock Expertise I learned needlepoint from my grandmother over 30 years ago. I can answer most questions on the subject. I know about producing needlepoint as well as cleaning, repairing and restoring.

Question One of my cats, Mabel, a sweet but slightly addled girl, has been relentless in her pursuit of my yarn & needle. She was sitting on the table slowly swallowing a piece of dark green yarn. I rushed over and yanked it out, & walked away. Five seconds later, I heard the now familiar sound of tummy rumbling. I knew with a sinking heart, what was next. Sure enough, she tossed her cookies, well in this case, a half digested Pounce. I cleaned up the spot as well as I could, but I noticed today, a faint, but clear shape, of a green tinged gold fish shaped Pounce. :} Do you have any suggestions on how to get this out?
Also, do you know of a reputable place online, that I can order yarn without going broke? None of the shops here carry it, they all have knitting or cross stitch yarn/threads, but not Persian yarn.
Thanks!
Answer Jude,
I sincerely apologize for the delay in responding to your inquiry.
I really can't be sure how to clean a stain of that nature. You might check with the American Needlepoint Guild (www.needlepoint.org); I know they have some instructions on cleaning needlepoint over there.
As for purchasing threads online, try searching for "needlepoint threads" or "needlepoint yarn"; also, try searching on the names of the yarn makers, e.g. Paternayan, Anchor, Appleton, etc. I did some searching around, and it seemed that all the prices were roughly the same. eBay is another good source. If you know the colors you want, and are willing to get some extra colors, I've seen auctions selling whole lots of mixed-color skeins for prices around 25-30 cents a skein.
