Needlepoint - broken plastic canvas

Expert: Vinette de Phillipe - 1/25/2006

Question
Hi again! I am working on Easter placemats using needlepoint on plastic canvas. The first placemat is half done and the canvas broke on one edge. I don't remember how to repair it. I believe I read you could use a drop of hot glue but I think that might melt the canvas. Can I just overcast the edge to hold the broken pieces together? Thanks.

Answer
HI
Did some searching and found these hints on repairing.

Helpful hint 20 form - LINDA
If you make a mistake in cutting your canvas like cutting a hole you didnt mean to.
You can use a hot glue gun to repair it.  Just put a little glue on the mistake and it repairs
 it immediately that'll save alot.

Hope this will be helpful.  I think that if you just overcast the edge it will come apart between the stitches.
