Needlepoint - long stitch

Expert: Vinette de Phillipe - 6/12/2006

Question
Hi. I'm using a "fur" type fiber and it calls for a long stitch. I'm doing a beard and santa hat with it. I can't find any instructions on the "long stitch". Is is similar to satin? Where is it best to begin? Can you please give me some advice?  Many thanks.
Lynn

Answer
HI Lynn
I checked all my reference material and all the long stitch is  is a straight stitch that is vertical, start at the top hole and skip two or three spaces and then down into the next stitch.

It can be made any length, depending on the design.
