Question
What is a cheap resource to learn the basic stiches?  I do crewel work but want to try needlepoint.

thank you in advance for your help.

Answer
hi vicki,
the way i use to teach beginners was to get a piece of canvas, 12 to 14 count, not too small or big.  get a stitch library, some yarn, needle.

on the canvas i drew a cute snail, the picture was about 14 inches square.  divided the snails shell into sections and each section do a different stitch.  came out real cute. and a good way to practice different stitches without the expence of an expensive kit.

here are some sites to help you begin your project.
