Most financial problems are fairly common and as such have some very common solutions. The key is understanding your rights in the collection process and how to enforce them if need be.

Question Hi my son got a payday loan about three years ago online he thought the Credit Union had paid this, and he owed them money. Well on 4/9/2008 he received three theating calls from some guy that he needs to pay today or he will be going to jail. He explain the the guy that he had no money that this time and he was at work could he talk to his me, I called and could not understand this man his English was so broken and what I could get out of him was not helpful he would not give me a name of a company or anything I ask for proof of the loan and all the interest that has been add up to this large amount. The man told me that when we pay it that will be our confirmation, I said that not good enough for me I need to see what this is all about, he said I will give you one and hour to call back with a payment. I called a lawyer and tried to get some information and called this guy back he said have your lawyer call me,I asked why cant you send something to me by e-mail or fax he said he has no papers to send. I asked my son did he tell him the name of the company this loan is with and he said the man told him US National Bank, this is how I got to you. Can anything happen to my son on this it just does not seem right to me. The number he left was 949-682-1305 which is in California and we live in Colorado. Please help us.
Thank You

Answer THIS IS A SCAM! Do not believe a word they say. Your son is not going to jail and there is no US National Bank. I have received numerous calls and emails concerning this company and their scare tactics. I believe the scam originated in Nigeria. There are web sites concerning this scam. They must be busy lately because of the number of calls I have received. If they call back keep asking questions. Report this to the police and file a complaint with your state attorney general. The more people that complain the sooner they can do something about it. I am sure many people are falling for this scam and losing a lot of money.
Rest assured no one is going to jail. If they call back and you have the ability to do three way calling call my number and ask for Mike. I would love to have a conversation with them. Call 1 877 270 8204.
I would be happy to help shut them down.
