Question I got a call from a company saying they are repersenting us.nationl bank and they are with untied investigations and that i owe some pay day loans.Which I do any I had out I called them today and they all told me iwas paid in full. This company wanted me to send them 2000 dollars but when I told them I did not have that kind of money would settle for 1500 with 200 of it being paid up front and the rest would be paid over the next 6 months. When I question them about this they told me I was going to be sorry.I told them I called all the payday loan places and they all told me I didnt owe anything. The company that called me told me they would be co ming after me and is harrassing me at work also.Is there anything I can do to stop the calls. i dont know how they got my work number or my socail security number.
Answer I suspect one of the loan companies you owed in the past sold that information to them illegally. I would tell them that you have contacted the FBI and the attorney general and the Federal Trade Commission and filed a complaint against them for attempted fraud. You may also file the complaint by going toe www.ic3.gov.
Once you advise them of the complaint they will usually quit calling.
When they act like they are going to do something to you, laugh at them. They hate it. Make fun of them. They wont call back. Its kind of funny how well that really works.
