Question Hi I am going travelling round India and then hope to go on to China. I want to travel overland. I heard a border opened up between India and China but as far as I can see its just for trade. Is the easiest way to travel across to go through Nepal and Tibet. If so, is this a difficult journey. I would appreciate a step by step guide on what to do - sorry but its my first time travelling!

You can travel overland from India to China in the following manner - first go on to Nepal and then from Kathmandu to Tibet. From Lhasa in Tibet you can take the spanking new Tibet-Qinghai railway to northern China and then take it from there over land, train and boat to southern China and come out at Hong Kong.
You should purchase some good travel books on India, Nepal and China (including Tibet) so that you have good information on how to travel. Lonely Planet publications is recommended and you should carry these books with you at all times. This will help as a reference guide whenever you are in need of information. Please try at the nearest bookshop in your country or order them online from lonelyplanet.com.
