Subject: Nathu-la Pass

Question
Is is possible for an American holding visas for both China and India to cross this pass into Tibet. I want to go overland from Delhi to Beijing and have no desire to see Nepal. Thank you so much

Answer
Hello Lucas,

Currently, to the best of my knowledge, the Nathu-La pass is open only for limited commerce between India and China and NOT for tourist traffic.

As such I would not advise you to attempt this crossing. Also the area around Nathu-La is restricted for foreigners as there are army installations along the border.

Hope this helps.
Nilesh.
