Question
Sir,

I'm planning to visit kathmandu this month end along with my family.
Please let me know what are the things we can shop for in kathmandu.
I'm planning to go to Gangtok (India) from kathmandu by road.
Can you please let me know what will be the distance between gangtok & kathmandu and what will be the availability of buses

Answer
dear siddesh

sorry for not responding quickly as i am travelling through india myself.

as for your questions are concerned, there are quite a lot of places to stay in kathmandu.  try thamel first in ktm to stay and as for shopping....well what are you looking for??

there are handicrafts products such as the well known, pashmina shawls, tibetan carpets, hancrafted wooden artifacts, silver jewellery....traditional etc..etc...

as for travelling to gangtok.....you have two options:

bus from kathammndu to kakarbidha.....the border of nepal and india...cross over...to india and travel overland to gangtok....or you can fly....from ktm to bhadhrapur and then pay a private taxi or a public tansport to gangtok.

though you know....private taxi from bhadrapur to gangtok will be expensive...

good luck and bon voyage!!!!!
