Question
Hi. I went to the doctor yesterday because I had a headache that I couldn't get rid of. My blood pressure was elevated slightly at 145/92. She gave me a low dose of lisinopril and did bloodwork. I just had to go back to get another round of bloodwork done today because they called and said get there ASAP. My BUN:53, Creatinine, Serum: 7.98 and Bun/Creatinine Ratio is 7. Glom Filt Rate, Est is 6. From what I'm reading on the internet I'm in kidney failure! I just went to the doctor for a headache, no other symptoms. Please give me some info. Thanks

Answer
Hi Stacey,

Thanks for asking my help on "Allexperts".

Please get your labs done once again ASAP. If your repeat labs do not show any abnormality, you have nothing to worry about.

If they are abnormal, get in touch with a Nephrologist. A detailed history, physical exam, other lab work including urinalysis and imaging of the kidneys is needed to diagnose your condition.

I am sorry I am not able to help you further at this juncture.

Please do not hesitate to follow up with me if you have any more questions after your lab results arrive.

Sincerely,

Dr. Shah
