Question
Good Evening Doc,

For the past week, I been dealing with Foamy urine everytime I used the restroom. Fearing someitng was wrong with my kidneys, I went to the Doctors. The collected a urine, and also drew blood (CBC and Comprehensive Panel). The urine came back with High Ketones/Trace amount of blood. All else was normal. I am still waitning for results of my blood test. I do not have diabetes, as my A1C was tested last month and with was 5. My fasting Glucose was 95. Any other reason why this might be happening? Im 5'7, 205 Male. Thanks sir

Answer
Hi Scott,

Thanks for asking my help on Allexperts.

I can think of a few conditions where the test result is positive, but 'no' ketones

1. Some medications:
  Levodopa - eg, Sinemet®
  Phenazopyrazine
  Valproic acid
  Vitamin C

2. Dehydration.

3. Starvation

4. Some metabolic disorders.

Sincerely,

Dr. Shah
