My creatinine spot urine level is 12730 umol/L. Sodium in urine level is 122 mmol/L. My urine is cloudy and has a strong fishlike smell. I also experience often fatigue and water retention. What could be wrong?

Answer
Hi Razan,

Thanks for asking my opinion on Allexperts.

The lab results that you have attached for kidney function and electrolyte levels are within normal limits. A spot urine creatinine alone is of limited clinical use. It is usually used with spot urine albumin to measure spot urine albumin/creatinine ratio - a measure of the amount of protein in urine.

Your urinalysis suggests that you may be suffering from a urinary tract infection.

Many diseases can cause fatigue and water retention. A detailed clinical history, physical examination and appropriate imaging tests are needed to arrive at a diagnosis. Unfortunately, I cannot do all this over the internet. Please get yourself evaluated by your primary care physician.

Sincerely,

Dr. Shah
