About Steven Kleid
Expertise
If you are planning a trip to The Netherlands and would like some information on places (like the official witches` scales) that most tourists never hear about, I would be happy to provide a few suggestions from my 3+ years in that beautiful little country. Here`s one right off the bat: Don`t limit yourself to Amsterdam!

Experience
I was stationed there for 3 1/2 years, as the principal Public Affairs officer for the U.S. Air Force. In 1998 I received a citation from the United States Ambassador to The Netherlands for "...significant contributions to the fostering of friendship between the peoples of The Netherlands and the United States."

Question
QUESTION: Hello, I'm Eva. I'm going to Dortmund now for few days and I want to ask you is there a train from Dortmund in Germany to Netherlands, the nearest city? Can you tell me where can I find it. Thanks

ANSWER: Hi Eva,

Try www.raileurope.com or www.ns.nl. I'm not sure which would be the closest stop in Holland, but I do know that there is rail service to Amsterdam, with stops in between. I think Enschede or possibly Hengelo might be the nearest to Germany.

QUESTION: Hi Steve,

do you know how much is it from Dortmund to Amsterdam and how long?

Thank you very much for your answer:)

Eva

Answer
Hi Eva,

If you go to the www.raileurope.com website and enter the information about your trip (From, To, Date, etc.) it will tell you exactly how long it takes and how much it costs.

By the way, you might want to check on renting a car and driving. This might save time and money, especially if you are not traveling alone.

Steve
