AboutSteven Kleid Expertise If you are planning a trip to The Netherlands and would like some information on places (like the official witches` scales) that most tourists never hear about, I would be happy to provide a few suggestions from my 3 years in that beautiful little country. Here`s one right off the bat: Don`t limit yourself to Amsterdam!
Experience I was stationed there for 3 1/2 years, as the principal Public Affairs officer for the U.S. Air Force. In 1998 I received a citation from the United States Ambassador to The Netherlands for "...significant contributions to the fostering of friendship between the peoples of The Netherlands and the United States."

Question HELLO - I am going to World Expo after Amsterdam. I know both countries well but have never done the trip overland. Any ideas on inexpensive ground transport - connections, etc are no problem.
THANK YOU!
Answer Nancy, I don't think there is any inexpensive ground transport for Americans with dollars in Europe these days, not with the Euro worth over $1.50. Obviously, the only choices would be by rail or renting a car. Since I don't know when you're going, how long you'll be there or even how many people in your party, the best I can do is give you some websites: for the rail system, try www.eurail.com, and for car rental go to www.autoeurope.com. Frankly, if you are traveling by yourself and are concerned about cost, I'd think about flying via one of the discount airlines in Europe. If that's a possibility, check www.wegolo.com
