AboutNicholas Unger Expertise I am particularly adept at answering any sort of question relating to the action of various neurotransmitters on neurons. Any sort of Neurophysiology/Cell Physiology or Neuropharmacology questions, particularly ion channel based in relation to physiological response. Anything other than that will earn you an educated guess.
Experience I have worked in a Neurophysiology lab for 3 years now on various projects for my dissertation. My expertise is the hypothalamic homeostatic control mechanisms in thermoregulation. Also neural control mechanisms in general as well as Suspended Animation techniques and theory.

Question this happened twice already. first, i was reading and suddenly my back ached and then i lost consciousness. and somebody who helped me told me i was chilling
the second one, i just woke up one morning and stretched my arms and then my back ached, i don't know somewhere near in the middle and i almost lost consciousness. what do you think is my problem?
Answer Dear Aldith,
Firstly, I would like to tell you to definately go see a doctor concerning this matter as it sounds somewhat serious. Secondly, I believe you should ask a chiropractor on these forums about this problem as well.
There are many questions I would ask you, but right off the bat I would say that a vertebral artery is probably being occluded momentarily by whatever cause, possibly by a back injury, growth, slipped disc even. So I would definately consult a physician as it sounds like a circulatory problem and not a neural problem.
So now for the questions. Do you ever notice any other symptoms? Such as Loss of pain/temperature sensation, numbness, things falling asleep? Especially localized to one side of the body? Did you have a previous back injury? How quickly did you lose consciousness? How long were you out? Have you recently had an Epidural?
I'll be able to narrow things down a little more after those questions are answered.
