Question Hi there
My family are flying from London to San Francisco to start a fly drive. After Yosemite (not sure where to stay 2 or 3 nights - any recommendation) we are travelling down to Las Vegas via Death Valley. Would a stop over in DV be a good idea or would be better doing the drive in one day, also could you advise on route through valley to see most interesting sights. Thought of staying in Vegas 2 nights (not gamblers) and then on to Grand Canyon (possibly staying at Canyon or Flagstaff. We would also like to see Sedona and wondered if Zion would be within driving distance. Could we base at Flagstaff or would be be better driving to Zion and staying there. We finally fly back to UK from Phoenix.
Any help advice with routes and points of interest would be great.
Many thanks
Ann (writing from England on a particularly lovely sunny day!)
Answer Hi Ann,
When are you planning your trip?
How many days (and nights) total will you have between your landing in San Francisco and your departure from Phoenix?
Have you made ANY reservations for lodging at this time? Lodging fills up as much as TWO years in advance!
Zion is close to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon...As the crow flies, but to drive there would take HOURS. As a rough guess, maybe an 8-10 hour drive ONE WAY from the Grand Canyon.
If you let me know your time parameters, I can more fully answer your questions. Have you had the opportunity to see my website? The "Trip Report" section contains places I've visited and also maps to give you a general idea of the distances.
Oh, and SUNNY weather in England? Another misconception of mine dispelled!
