About Diann Tonnesen
Expertise
I am a 22 year resident of Las Vegas and Henderson and I can answer any questions having to do with buying or selling real estate in the Las Vegas Valley. I am a professional Realtor with Century 21 and I have raised my children here, so I am particularly good at advising families about schools and neighborhoods. I just love Las Vegas and I want everyone to know Las Vegas is more than just casinos - it`s a fabulous place to live and work! The community is filled with loads of cultural activities, parks and friendly people and our weather is wonderful year round.

Experience
My husband and I have been serving the Las Vegas Valley since 1983, so we really know the neighborhoods and can access them through our database which has over 8,000 new and resale homes. For our buyers we offer in-house lending at below market rates plus complete relocation services including free utility connection hook ups. For our sellers we have terrific strategies for preparing a home to get top dollar, and we have a high-tech comprehensive marketing program that will effectively promote their home to millions of people around the world daily.

Question
Hi miss Tonnesen !

My wife, her daughter and I will be visiting your exciting city mid sept, and I have a couple of questions, you might be able to help me with;

- We are thinking of parking at the KOA/Circus-Circus RV site on The Strip.   Is it fairly safe from robbery/buglary, and is it a good site ?

-My stepdaughter is 19 years old, and not into Black Jack (like me) - but will she be allowed inside the casinos, and can she play some slotmachines?   I understand the age limit is 21, but just wondering if we will get in problems if we go in anyway.

-I heard that the seafood buffet at the RIO is good and not to pricey ?

Thanks a million in advance !

Answer
The KOA campground is of course right on the Strip which makes it very convenient location. I cannot comment on how "safe" a neighborhood is as I am a real estate agent and not allowed to do so, but you could certainly contact our local Metro police at 702-229-3111 and ask them.

Unfortunately your daughter will not be allowed near any of the machines or tables until she is 21. Nineteen is a tough age in Vegas! :)  There is a great arcade for kids at the Circus Circus, though she is probably too old for it, but also a water park and pool that she would probably enjoy, so tell her to bring her suit. Trust me, it should still be plenty warm enough for enjoyable swimming.

She is old enough to go to almost all the shows. There are some great ones put on by the Cirque du Soleil like Oh, Mystere and Ka (Mystere is a personal favorite)and of course the more traditional ones like Jubilee and a variety of good comedy clubs. (Ask the concierge in the Circus Circus for a list of what will be playing then.)

The seafood buffet at the Rio is great - that's the one thing about Vegas, no shortage of fabulous places to eat. The Golden Nugget has a good seafood buffet as well. There is also a cool New York style restaurant downtown called the Triple George next to the Hogs N Heifers Bar. After dinner you can stroll down Fremont Street and watch some of the street artists and look at the lights of the Fremont Street Experience. And I just love walking down the Strip and looking at the Bellagio fountains and Mirage volcano and if you like roller coasters try the one in the New York New York. If you are a daredevil you can also try the rides at the Stratosphere. Your daughter might really like that!

I do hope you enjoy your stay - if you have more questions in the meantime, you should contact one of the other experts as I am getting ready to leave on a 3 week trip to the UK and will not be back until the beginning of September. Good luck and enjoy!!
