Answer >I am looking to do some camping & backpacking around lasvegas. can you give me some ideas?
Sure. Since you haven't given me much to go on (when you're going, physical condition, etc.), I'd sugget the Valley of Fire located about an hour north of the city on I-15. Many trails criss-cross this starkly beautiful state park offering hiking for various abilities. Camping sites are also available there. For an idea of what you'll see at the park - http://cmdrmark.com/valleyfire.html
The park's site - http://parks.nv.gov/vf.htm - contains specific informatin on camping, trails, historical overview, etc. A Visitors Center contains helpful staff who can further suggest specific trails based on your hiking ability as well as providing maps of the area to ensure your outing is both fun and safe.
