i hike at red rock a lot, but am interested in camping there.  i heard primitive camping is allowed above 5000ft.  is this true, and what are the details?  are any fires allowed?  are they on trails?  thank you.

True.

No potable water; Permit REQUIRED! Camp 1/4 mile from water holes. Trash in-Trash out. Take nothing but a photograph...The usual stuff!

Ground fire, no; Camp stove, yes. (You'll see info about no collecting firewood, which kinda makes sense as you can't use it to have a traditional campfire!)

I've read that there are no developed trails.

You didn't think I'd let you go without telling you where to get that required permit, did you?  ;>)
