Answer Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
>Question:
>i hike at red rock a lot, but am interested in camping there. i heard primitive camping is allowed above 5000ft. is this true
True.
>and what are the details?
No potable water; Permit REQUIRED! Camp 1/4 mile from water holes. Trash in-Trash out. Take nothing but a photograph...The usual stuff!
>are any fires allowed?
Ground fire, no; Camp stove, yes. (You'll see info about no collecting firewood, which kinda makes sense as you can't use it to have a traditional campfire!)
> are they on trails?
I've read that there are no developed trails.
You didn't think I'd let you go without telling you where to get that required permit, did you? ;>)
