Answer
Dear Tommy,

Interesting Questions.

In an almost infinite universe, with possible numberless universes connected to it, within countless time, ….anything is possible, and usually is (smile).

From the gist of your question it appears that you are not specifically interested in the definitions of this dream, but are more curious about the fact that both you and your girl friend appeared to have shared the same (or a very similar) dream, so lets start with that.

While not a comparative religious, or a new age philosophy question per se, it appears that you wish to discuss this event in general terms and perhaps in relation to any religious or philosophical premise, and I would be happy to do so.

First it is important to understand the nature of dreams themselves.

Much of the meaning that we associate with any dream is only conferred after we wake up, and this is because as the dreamer in the dream state we do not look for meaning while in the dream, as the dream maintains and contains its own inherent significance.

This is exactly the same as waking up, shower and go about your day, with all of its events, you do not (as with a dream) at the end of the day “wake up” and then begin to look for or confer all kinds of meanings onto what happened in your day.

This is because the nature of consciousness imparts a sense of “reality” or the sense of linear coherent authenticity to each moment as we go about our day, and this process is just as true and just as actual while we experience events within any dream.

This process takes place in the dream state because consciousness is unaffected by internal variations within mind, or by time, or by space.

So we are just as conscious or aware in the dream state as in the waking state, it is only when we have passed from one state into the next, that we feel the need to look for meaning, and this search for meaning is an emotive process, not one of consciousness itself.

Secondly we are completely un-aware of the vast majority of our dreaming, this is partly because we are most aware of dreams that tend to take place close to the point of our wakening, and even after awake, the memory tends to lose the connection to the dream state very quickly, and what is left behind is most often the emotive content that existed within the dream itself as opposed to a clear sequence of events.

This is because dreams are a process within the body-mind for the health of the body-mind, …dreams are a process where the body-mind restores and renovates itself, so as a result the vast majority of our dreams have little to no direct, real, or actual import to our waking lives.

However in rare circumstances this is not the case, instead the dream is powerful, important and can be even life changing.

There is some literature about highly advanced and mature Adepts using an aspirants dream state to impart a specific and important understanding, and there is some literature where individuals with specific abilities experience dreams which show them relationships or transactions outside of their own place (as with some ESP events), but both of these types are very, very rare in both the general population and within individuals.

However it is also just as true that some individuals have an innate connectivity, or the ability to be in “tune” to their mutual and individual thoughts and feelings.  This form of association could lead to unconscious but mutual concerns, feelings and considerations, which in turn would directly influence the development of dream scenarios between the two, perhaps even to the point of similarity.

Meaning that two individuals could be so linked or so connected that their unconscious minds share similar worries, or considerations and ergo would share similar dream content.

In the end the significance (or non-significance) of this dream is for the two of you only, what it means, and why it happened is something that only you two can determine.

Like a letter from a stranger, its address was to you only, and its content was for you only, and why it was sent may never be known.

I hope that this was helpful and take care.

Blanchjoe
