AboutRoger Greer Expertise I can answer questions on new age, ambient, world, and some sacred or classical music.
Experience I've been a long time collector. I started a community radio station and started a new age radio show on the station, KXCI, in Tucson, AZ.
I currently have a new age/ambient/world show on that station called BRAINWAVES, which airs Mon-Tues, 6-7 AM MST.
Question QUESTION: Hello.....Back in the early-mid 80's; when I was tuned into Windam Hill and the 'sound'; I actually owned a tape of this artist, who performed this cut, that had a rather country mix/flavor to it and I seem to recall he was a pianist; rather than KEYBOARDS. I am racking my brain now, because I have checked all the Windham Hill artist/keyboardist/pianist and no name jumps out. Now, I'm stuck on the title and it seemed to have part of the title name of "Mountain" and/or "Syrup" or words that effect? Like I said, it had a country flavor, like a Bruce Hornsby edge, circa: Hornsby '86/'88 early Range period? Not sure if any of this helps; but maybe it wasn't Windam Hill either; but that label was revolutionary, at the time, because that sort of music was NOT listen to 20 year old R&R er's? Thank YOU
ANSWER: Only one I can think of and is with windham Hill is George Winston, one album in particular is called Montana.
check that one out. Other than George, hard to help you with these kinds of questions. Let me know whether I hit it, OK?

QUESTION: Thank you Roger, unfortunately it's not George Winston and I should of added that in my convoluted question. Sorry. But honest to God, as I was VERY excited to see you responded and saw Winston's name, I frowned and gave it another hard thought and I came up with it.....incredible. The Artist I was thinking about is named: John Jarvis!!! How I could suddenly come up with this, is another example of a fading memory; BUT at least it was somewhere in my brain? Now if I can only remember the song?? Country Sryrup; or something like that?? Anyway, thank you so much for taking the time to answer here. Much appreciated.
Answer well, that is exciting! I have a half a dozen john jarvis albums, he is actually listed on allmusic.com as COUNTRY!?
so the early mid 80's albums are: so far so good, pure contours and something constructive.
I did not see any title that is similar to country syrup, but many country "sounding" names.
there are many sites that allows you to listen to 30 sec or so of the songs, itunes aol, etc, so you might want to explore those. I have enjoyed his style of new age music with a country tinge. new age music is so wide of a genre, everything from his style to the German synchensing style of music like Klaus Schulze
any way good luck and glad that you thought of us name
