Question
The questions I'm asking below are not about the Patriots in particular but about today's NFL in general.

1) Is the maximum number of players on a NFL team roster 53 players, not including players on the reserve-injured list and practice squad players?

2) If the answer to question 1 above is "yes," then are all special teams players of a NFL team included in that NFL team's 53-player roster?

Answer
1) Yes. The maximum roster size is 53 players.

2) Anyone who is eligible to play in a game is on the 53-man roster. All special teams players are on the roster and are either starters or backups. Certain guys play primarily on special teams, falling into two general categories, a young player or a special teams pro (Larry Izzo for the Pats).

Feel free to shoot me a follow up if you have any more questions. Thanks!
