Question How do the judges decide when a receiver has successfully caught a forward pass? I'm aware of the rules (clearly secured the ball, both feet in bound, etc.) What I'm asking is that sometimes the situations are unclear. Let's say a receiver seems to have caught a forward for a second, and then the ball got knocked out by the defense, is that a fumble or an incomplete?
Answer If a receiver catches a pass, they must clearly show that they have possession of the ball. This involves either taking let's say two steps or holding the ball for 3 seconds. Yet, it's always up to the referees to decide whether or not they had possession.
