Question
I am not sure you can help me but any information will be gratefully received. The problem is I got a woodworking machine, horizontal morticer with a 3 phase 1.5kw motor giving me 3000rpm. The motor shaft has a special chuck attached for holding cutters. What I want to do is increase the speed of shaft rpm ideally to 18000rpm, the same speed as a router so I can use cnc router cutter more efficiently. Can this be done? Is there anyway I can use the existing motor or will I have to invest in a new set up. I notice from looking at CnC router machines that they use inverter driven motor to achieve the speed output. Do you know anything about this subject or any useful websites that could explain this to me. Thanks for any help given. Stuart

Answer
I would not personally alter any type of tools with electronics because if some thing were to fail it could cause many of problems, Injury, void warranty, or plain burn the electronics. I would in your case may be just invest into another one if you could pay it off with the income.
