Subject: when does the snow melt

Question
I would like to know when it is best to see the rivers on the kagamanas flowing at their best. I always go in the fall and winter months but would like to see the highway in the spring

Answer
Hi Lyndsey,

Thank you for writing.

I like to look at the Kangamangus in the fall(October)because of the foliage color but the spring, during snowmelt is the best time to see the power of the rapids.

This year will be particularly good because of the depth of the snowpack. Depending on the weather, rain and temperature, I would say that in about two weeks the Swift River should really be moving. Also check out the Saco River up Rt. 16 in Conway.

Happy Spring!
