Question Debbie, my wife and I are planning on flying to Manchester from our home in south Texas this October to see the fall colors. Our tentitive plan is to arrive the second week in October and stay approx. one week. Following is a list of a few of the things we like to do: county fairs, sea food, mountains, lakes and off the beaten-path spots. If you could make some suggestions on things to see, places to stay (we like homey not fancy) and the like ,it would be greatly appreciated. Is the second week in October a good time to see the fall colors? My wife was born in Nashua, so we might like to go there also. If you know of a good resource we could use to plan our trip include that also. Thank you for your time. Ron Richter
Answer Dear Ron,
I am more familar with the northern half of the state of NH. But i do know a bit about the southern part as well. Since i am not sure exactly what dates you are planning on coming in and leaving here is a list of stuff that you and your wife may find enjoyable. Also anytime in from mid sept to mid oct is beautiful for the foilage.
There are two fairs running from the end of sept to mid october

here is a list of stuff you may find interesting to do in nh in merrimack county which is where concord and manchester are both located
now if you have the time to see some of the mountains you need to head north and take a day trip i would suggest going along the kangamangus highway as it is very popular and has some of the most beautiful foliage and as anyone will tell you the further north you go the prettier the colors will be. Also you will be able to see the mountains. Another nice thing to do if take the a ferry ride on the MT Washington along lake Winnipesaukee esecially at nite.
i hope that this helps you and that you enjoy your trip. If i can do anything else for you feel free to buzz me again,
