Question I would like to travel from the East Coast to the West Coast this summer, by car. Any ideas on:
best travel time (month),
route to take, going and returning,
recommended places to visit along the way,
helpful websites.
Thanks in advance -much appreciated!
Answer Hello Kren-In my opinion the month of June is the most
pleasant of the summer months in which to travel
cross country.
The most direct route from east to west is on
Interstate highway 80. It begins in New York and takes you
through New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois
Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, Nevada and into California ending
in the San Francisco area.
In traveling from west to east you would have a less direct but more interesting trip by traveling on Interstate Highway 10 which starts in the Los Angeles, California area and takes you through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and ends in Florida.
As to the question of interesting places to visit
along the way, these are just too numerous to try to
describe. What I suggest is that you go to any internet
search engine such as Google.com or Jeeves.com and type in
the name of the state you might visit. Each state web site will have information about points of interest. Some will
link you to a visitors bureau of a tourism agency that will
be of immense help.
Have a pleasant trip.
