Question I am doing a project on New Jersey and need to know what is the longest highway in NJ.
Thanks
Answer Sarah;
This is a good question.
There are no official records about the longest highway in New Jersey but my research shows that the Garden State Parkway is the longest at 172.4 miles, stretching across the entire distance of the longest length of the state, from north to south, from the New York State border down to Cape May. The New Jersey Turnpike is 118 miles.
The only other highway that merits consideration is Route 9, also stretching from the New York State border to Cape May. However, Route 9 is not contiguous. It coexists with Route 1 in Northern New Jersey, and in Southern New Jersey, you have to get on and off the Garden State parkway at several points to finally get back to Route 9 in Cape May.
