Question
Why do the four non-Manhattan boroughs of New York City not have a New York, NY address with the US Postal Service (e.g. Brooklyn has a Brooklyn, NY address). NYC is one city, right? It has one mayor, and all five boroughs are reported as one city in the US census. Thank you!

Answer
Joe,

NY, NY has meant "New York County" (Manhattan)to postal employees.
NYC is so big with so many streets that for example, 1440 Broadway NY NY could be very confusing, as there is a "Broadway" in every borough. The 6500 miles of streets have many similar names in each of the five boroughs.

John
