Question
I am planning on travelling with my family to New York this December and staying in times square vicinity. My kids are 12, 12 ad 9 and i want to be a part of the new years eve celebrations. do you have any tips as well as where we could perhaps see the action from a warmer place as a i dont think the kids would be able to last the outdoors for such a long duration. i would like to think we would hang outside for a while but not sure what to expect. also - any suggestions for a restaurant in the area which we could dine at without the $400 per person price tag? Anything that could have a view too?? I appreciate any advice you can give! regards, Michelle

Answer
Michelle,

A great hotel in the Times Square area is the QT Hotel. It has reasonable rates for Midtown and even has a pool. New Years in Times Square is very busy and trying to get an affordable room in the area is a daunting task. Many guests book hotels years in advance! Remember that there will be   about 600,000 people in just a 10 block area trying to view the ball drop. As for a warmer viewing area, it may be your living room, otherwise so many people wouldn't be outside in the frigid cold viewing it. My suggestion is to try and find someone renting out their apartment for that week on the "craigslist" website. Also, try Puttanesca restaurant on 56th & 9th. Good luck!
