About Tina M Kinney
Expertise
I can answer questions about NYC neighborhoods, where and what to eat, how to get around on the subway, how to get to and from NYC, what to do, where to shop etc. I can not give recommendations on hotels, however, since I only stayed at a few myself. When I go to NYC, I stay with family! I am honest and if I don't know the answer I will tell you. Often you have to do your own research on the internet and that will give you an answer. I will point you to useful websites but you have to do your own research, I can't do it for you!

Experience
I am a native New Yorker. I was born and grew up in Manhattan on the Upper West Side. I love showing NYC to newcomers and understand how the city works. I also understand that a city like NY can be very overwhelming to a newcomer. I am here to make your visit to Manhattan fun and exciting!

Education/Credentials
I have a BA from Binghamton University, NY and a Masters in Public Administration from SUNY Albany.

Question
My husband and I are going to New York Friday and it is forecasted to be snow.  What is the appropriate footwear in new york and will we be able to get around in the snow or does the city stop like it does here in the south if it snows 4 inches

Answer
The city definitely doesn't stop when it snows.  In fact, the sidewalks get cleared very quickly and snow melts because of all the foot traffic.  But the streets will be messy and wet nevertheless. I checked the forecast and it is for rain.  But in case it snows I would get comfortable waterproof and ankle-length boots.  Even rainslicker boots should be fine as long as you can walk a lot in them. This should be good for rain as well.
