About Tina M Kinney
Expertise
I can answer questions about NYC neighborhoods, where and what to eat, how to get around on the subway, how to get to and from NYC, what to do, where to shop etc. I can not give recommendations on hotels, however, since I only stayed at a few myself. When I go to NYC, I stay with family! I am honest and if I don't know the answer I will tell you. Often you have to do your own research on the internet and that will give you an answer. I will point you to useful websites but you have to do your own research, I can't do it for you!

Experience
I am a native New Yorker. I was born and grew up in Manhattan on the Upper West Side. I love showing NYC to newcomers and understand how the city works. I also understand that a city like NY can be very overwhelming to a newcomer. I am here to make your visit to Manhattan fun and exciting!

Education/Credentials
I have a BA from Binghamton University, NY and a Masters in Public Administration from SUNY Albany.

Question
Hey!  Myself and four friends are graduating from college next week and we are traveling to NYC from the 11-17 of May, 2008.  We are from South Carolina and none of us have been to NYC and are really excited!  I was just trying to get a feel for the many things to do and not do withiin the city.  I know we want to see a Broadway, go to the Today show, and do all the little tourist things.  We plan to get all dolled  up and go out to a nice dinner and out one night, but we are clueless as to where and all.  We are staying at a hotel on 28th street in Manhattan, so we are within walking distance of a lot, but what is the best and cheapest way to travel.  I saw some subway maps and I feel like I would get really lost doing that, but hopefully new yorkers could help.
We are just a group of 22 yr old girls that wanna have a good time in NYC.  Any advice or tips would be WONDERFUL!  Thanks so much!

Kim

Answer
The subways is probably the cheapest way to travel, although it's not always as quick as I like. There are a ton of bars and cool restaurants.  You may just want to wing it and see what looks appealing to you. Why not start with what's around your hotel?

Timeout NY has a good website you can look at:
