AboutJennifer Expertise I travel to Manhattan frequently and can offer a unique perspective because I am a tourist.I have so much curiosity about Manhattan and that has led me to gather lots of great information about the city. I consider myself a hotel buff of sorts, and touring them and analyzing their attributes has become a hobby for me. I can give some good advice on restaurants, shopping, and in general just how to maximize those "new york moments" we all want to experience. Whether it is something as small as how to hail a cab, where to enjoy a cocktail and a romantic stroll, or how to dress so you don`t stand out as a tourist, go ahead and ask.

Question My husband and I will be coming in to Grand Central Station from Newark on 8/1 ~ 5 pm. Is it possible to store 4 small bags at the station while we take #7 subway to get show tickets at TKTS? We're planning to return and take a taxi to the Franklin. Alternatively, what are our chances of getting into MOMA at no charge ~ 6:30 pm that night? Finally, why do you recommend bringing a small umbrella..do New Yorkers use for shade as well as thundershowers? Many thanks.
Answer You can't store your bags at the subway station, sorry. You won't have a problem getting into MOMA. I would goto your hotel and get settled in, then on your way to MOMA, stop and get your tickets. You could think of even walking from TKTS to MOMA. I love the Franklin by the way. In the upper east side there is a Dean and Deluca grocery, and a great deli called EAT at 81st and Madison. Also there is a good pizzaria Totonnos at 2nd ave btw 81st and 82nd streets. Have a cocktail at the Carlyle Hotel. Along Madison AVE there are lots of great eateries. Think of having breakfast at the Lowell Hotel. Also look at www.cafesabarsky.com
I mention the umbrella only because people forget this many times. There is not reason to let the rain stop you from having fun!!! Have a great time---I would love to know your opinion of the Franklin---I have thought of staying there many times.
