New Zealand - The best month to travel in Southern Newzealand and highs and lows temperatures during Novemeber

Expert: Don Boddie - 9/23/2009

Question
We are planning to travel to Newzealand during November of 2009.Is it better to select December thru February because there is summer there. We are in US for 20 years. Thanks

Answer
Hi Jagdish,
It is late spring / early summer in November and the temperature in the South Island ranges between 18 to 25 degrees celcius during the day down to about 7 to 12 degrees at night. It is a very pleasant time to travel in New Zealand and you will not need clothes for extreme temperatures. The weather is quite settled then as well.
Equinox is during October when the weather can be very windy.
November is not high season so prices for accommodation etc are a bit cheaper.
