Question We will be in Buffalo next week and would like to see the falls from the Canadian side. Can you tell me what we would need to travel into Canada for this brief visit? Is a birth certificate and photo ID sufficient?
Answer If you are a citizen of the U.S., then proof of citizenship along with photo ID is sufficient at this time (e.g., U.S. issued birth certificate and drivers license that contains a photo). Please note that this applies only to land-crossings between the U.S.A. and Canada, including by bus or car. Other travel requires a passport. Also, passports will be required for land crossings in the near future.
