Nissan Repair - 1986 Nissan 350Z Head light

Expert: Von Sudderth - 2/16/2008

Question
driver side head light works on and off. One day it will stay on for a short time and then goes off and you can't turn it back on. Installed new lights, still the same problem. By the way the high beam doesn't work on either side. Thanks

Answer
Mike,

I am going to assume it is a 300Z.  But, in either case the headlight not working and you replacing it would lead me to think it is the headlight switch or the headlight relay.  Now, if the car has been in a front end wreck it could be the ground for the headlight in question.  First, I would switch the headlight relays around to see if the problem follows the relay and if it does replace the relay.  If not, and the ground is good, replace the headlight switch.
