Nissan Repair - 1997 nissan altima knock sensor replacement

Expert: Von Sudderth - 2/13/2008

Question
Hi, I know that I have a bad knock sensor on my 1997 Nissan Altima and have a new one on the way to me, I need to know the best way to get to the old one to replace it and how difficult this will be. I have read on some other sites that this will be very difficult and so I may have to take it to a shop instead of my husband doing this.

Answer
Brandy,

The knock sensor is not that difficult to replace.  I would get a Haynes Manual to expedite the process since it has the pictures that will show you where and how to replace the sensor.  Then, disconnect the battery to reset the code.  Your hubbie can do this job as it is easy.  The manual will cost around $20 bucks.
