Subject: 1998 Pathfinder Gas Mileage

Question
My 1998 Pathfinder has 117000 miles on it. I just checked the gas mileage for mainly highway use and it was 15mpg. I have already replaced the plugs and plan to replace the cap and rotor. What else can I do to improve the mileage?

Answer
Dennis,

Make sure the tires are at the proper pressure.  A K&N or other performance airfilter would help fuel economy.  Also, make sure the engine is in proper time.  If you are hauling around a lot of stuff you could off load to loose weight.  A free flowing exhaust would also help.
