Subject: Nissan Sentra 1997 -smoke coming out of steering wheel

Question
I have a 1997 nissan sentra GXE, and sometimes when I put on the signal light, smoke comes out from the behind the steering wheel?  Any idea what the problem might be?

Answer
Hi Kisha -

Gee, never heard that one before -
Looks like there is a problem with the connection for the turn signal switch. In the steering wheel there are many connectors and terminals very close together. Perhaps 2 wires are shorting out. Have any fuses blown? Does it smoke usually when the wheel is turning, or still?

Get back to me please -
Aloha
calvin
