Nissan Repair - Removal of Ignition lock cylinder

Expert: Von Sudderth - 11/6/2009

Question
Hello,

I have a 1992 Nissan Stanza, and want to know how to remove the ignition lock cylinder/assembly? Some idiot tried to steel it and wrecked the entire unit.I have the steering column casing removed. How do i remove it and replace it?

Answer
Tara,

I would spend the $100 bucks for a wrecking yard column.  But, if you are going to repair yours there are two break away bolts that you have to chistle out and you will have to go to Nissan or a store that sells replacements.  If you want to keep them from taking the Stanza you will want to replace these bolts with the factory type.
