Question
I have a 1994 Nissan Altima GXE 2.4L 4 cylinder engine and has about 104,000 miles on it.The motor has been running fine until just recently,When it is starting it doesn't turn over right away it will crank for about 3 to 4 seconds before it starts when it is cold, and it's missing while running,I've recently replaced the fuel, and air filters, and all 4 fuel injectors, and cleaned the carbon from the distributor cap and rotor and found some oil leaking at the bottom of the distributor,so I replaced the distributor, but with no change in the way the motor is running. Also the timing chain rattles or chatters only when the engine is idling not while at a higher RPM.Thanks,Scott

Answer
Hi Scott -

try this test and get back to me. When the engine is cold, spray some starting fluid in the intake boot and quickly try to start the engine. If the engine starts right away, then it is fuel related, probably the cold start valve, or idle valve solenoid.

Is there and check engine light on?

Hope this helps -
aloha
