Question
hi i have a vt commodore calais i need to do the rack &pin on it and im being told i dont need the whole rack & pin all i need is boots and rubbers for it i would like to now what i have to do as i would like to get it back on the road it has been leaking but not a lot if u could help me out on this please thank u

Answer
Hi Brian -

Possible.
There are 3 places a rack can leak -

The hoses, especially the pressure side,
The main seal where the steering shaft connects
The inner tie rod connection at both wheels

The latter is the most common area to leak as it moves the most. If the fluid is leaking out of the boot, then it is this seal.

You can purchase the seal kit which contains the seals and dust boot. You do need proper tools to do this. Are you doing this yourself?
