Question
Hi,

When I place GEAR SHIFT in Parking its getting locked. The release knob is not working. Its happening only when I place it on P (park) position. Can you pl., tell me why.

Also car slows down (no power) even at small steap. Must worst when the car goes to a steap hill type road.

Please explain. I took to the dealer and he said that AIR MASS FLOW METER needs to be changed? is it true?

Thanks

Answer
The gear shift has an safety interlock that locks the shifter unless you press on the brake pedal when you shift it out of gear.  If the interlock is stuck it is usually the brake switch that is defective.

Yes, buy a mass air flow sensor and replace it.  If you do not want to get violated at the dealer for a large bill go to rockauto.com and you can order one there for much less money.
